RunFree Lite2 by SoundPeats is an open-ear wireless headphone with a comfortable, fit, decent sound quality, and an excellent price of $39. As the name suggests, it has been designed for workouts and outdoor activities, and it surely doesn’t disappoint. But beyond that, it works well for all kinds of tasks. If you want a device that you can use in different situations, RunFree Lite2 is a good choice.

Design

RunFree Lite2 has an open-ear design, which means it does not fit into your ear canal, making it comfortable for long use. It sits at the entrance of your ear canal, making sure you are aware of surrounding noise, which can be especially useful in outdoor settings.

The headphone is secured in place with a comfortable ear hook with silicone coating, which doesn’t cause irritation or discomfort in long use. I’ve tried in different situations, including while wearing a beanie that covers the ears and still found it comfortable.

RunFree Lite2 is very similar to the GoFree 2 (also a very good open-ear headphone) with the slight difference that it has a neckband that connects the two headphones. The neckband is flexible and covered with the same comfortable silicone material as the ear hooks. This gives the headphones extra stability when using them during intense workouts where other open-ear headphones would dangle loosely. However, it comes with the tradeoff of not being able to use the headphones one at a time and making them inconvenient when wearing tall neckwarmers that cover your ears.

Features

RunFree Lite2 comes with Bluetooth 5.3 and has very good connectivity. It also supports dual-device connection, which means you can pair it with, say, your phone and your computer at the same time. This is a very good feature that enables you to automatically switch between devices for different uses. For example, if you’re watching YouTube on you computer and get a call on your phone, the headphone automatically switches to your phone to take the call.

RunFree Lite 2 has three press buttons: power and volume up/down. The buttons can be used for all kinds of functions, including browsing through songs and answering calls. However, if you’re used to touch buttons (like the ones on GoFree 2) you will have to play around with them a bit to get used to it.

Like other wireless headphones, RunFree Lite2 has a Game Mode that reduces lag and improves audio-visual sync in gaming and streaming.

Like other SoundPeats products, RunFree Lite2 has a mobile app that gives you extra control, including EQ presets and customization as well as firmware updates for the device.

Sound quality

When it comes to open-ear headphones, I always prioritize comfort over sound quality. With the environment noise leaking in, you can’t expect the same experience as in-ear earbuds or over-ear headphones. Moreover, wind and extreme environment noise can distort the noise.

That said, RunFree Lite2 has very good sound quality for open-ear headphones. It comes with 16.2mm drivers that provide clear sound that highlights all the details.

Since the device has been designed for outdoors, the microphones comes with very good noise reduction. It has dual-mic noise reduction that does a great job of minimizing background noise in various environments, which is very good for taking calls.

Battery life

When fully charged, RunFree Lite2 will give you 15 hours of playtime, which is sufficient for most uses.

With good sound, great design, excellent battery life, and a very affordable price, RunFree Lite2 is great choice for athletes.
